it blew up my two 24' acer monitors

Pros: Looks cool, quiet, bright screen. Cons: It blows up monitors. Overall Review: Two days ago, I quietly working at my desk when my two Acer monitors nearly blew up. It was quite frightening. They both emitted a popping sound then I saw smoke rise from the ventilation in the back of the monitors. After careful examination, I've narrowed it down to the Tripp-Lite UPS. Also, I tried to call customer support at Tripp-Lite, and no one picked up. :(

Apparently "U" != "Uninterruptible"

Pros: Relatively inexpensive, as long as you don't count the cost of potential data loss when it drops power to your server. Cons: This unit works great...until the batteries get old. At that point, the unit will randomly drop power to the connected equipment. Doesn't tell you that the batteries are bad, doesn't do anything except unceremoniously killing power to whatever's connected. I called Tripp Lite support about this, and they said it's perfectly normal for an "Uninterruptable" Power Suppl...

No excuse

Pros: Looks nice, rackmountable. Cons: The LCD display is difficult to read from any angle other than straight on, so if you have it mounted up high or down low you'll have to work to read it. The overwhelming negative, though, is that when the batteries near end-of-life the unit will spontaneously shut off. No warning, no alarm, no nothing--just boom, power goes off. All other equipment in the room stays up, so there's not a power problem. Overall Review: I installed this in a lights-out manage...

It's a UPS

Pros: It's a UPS with a lot of outlets and a clean visual design. The display can be used in vertical or horizontal mount positions. Cons: The front panel display updates too slowly to spot any real trends in the AC voltage - an expanded scale bargraph would have been better. The unit needs full rails and supports to rackmount, as the ears are mostly cosmetic and screw directly into soft plastic - no metal bushings or chassis holes. The included software requires the resource-hog JAVA package to...

a good UPS

Pros: Very Clean compact design. Display is very easy to read from a distance of 3 feet at an angle of ~60° from straight on. Has eight well spaced outlets on the back with four being battery backed and all surge protected. 6ft. cord with right angle flat plug. Cons: Software is intrusive and clumsy. The item was drop shipped from the supplier (no outer packaging other than that of the manufacturer. Weighs in at 16LBS. Package took a beating in transit. Overall Review: Not a bad little UPS for t...

Rack mountable UPS for arround $200 seem to good to be true? It is.

Pros: Is a UPS, appears to switch to battery properly.Serial and USB connections Cons: "Rack mount" brackets are designed to grip the edge of the UPS. Screws go into the plastic, not meta. Holes in bracket are too small for M6 or 1/4" screws. They are too close to the edge and the metal is too thin for expanding the holes to be possible.Brackets are thin, cheap metal that bends easily.Wall-wart outlets result in the transformers hanging off the top/bottom or sides of the UPS, not very practical....

Has Bugs

Pros: Display is cool Cons: Doesn't work well. I've had 2 bad ones.Shuts off by itself. Overall Review: Not a good choice. I've had two defective ones in that they shut off unexpectedly. There is something wrong with this model.

Fail

Pros: It has a trendy blue LCD readout to let you know that the line voltage and battery levels are OK. Unfortunately, that's while it's cutting power to all of your devices for absolutely no reason. Cons: Replaced a 600W TrippLite version that I thought was just underpowered for what I had hooked up to it, but in hindsight was probably my first indication that TL is a questionable brand. Had bad experiences w/APC, and wanted to support a local Chicago company. Never again. A CLACK sound will be...

No Macintosh Power Alert Software

Pros: Cheap Cons: Contrary to advertising all over the web, Tripp Lite has discontinued it's Power Alert software for Macintosh.

Works..but defective design shortens life

Pros: Low cost unit that is acceptable for backing A/V equipment. Works fine aside from the heat issue below. Cons: Failed after 1 year. Poor design has the batteries placed right next to the inverter transformer with no adequate cooling. Heat from the transformer will eventually cause the battery shells to to crack open and fail. Tripp-Lite provided a warranty replacement without requiring sending the dead unit back which I thought was unusual, I believe they are aware of the issues with this u...
